Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme

Are you going to Scarborough Fair? ahh... a little Simon & Garfunkel. OK, so I'm not going to Scarborough Fair, just going to the patio for some fresh herbs. So this is my first try at an herb garden. I love fresh herbs and always buy those organic live herb packs (sprouts market has an awesome selection). But hopefully gone are those days.

Also I love this vintage barrel that I got from my momma.

LadyBug Land

These are our new friends! They are the left over ladybugs from my Kindergarten's class project. We get to study these little fellas or "ladies" at home and after we are done they are heading straight for their new home in the garden.

Spring clean your life

This is our last week of winter!
I am so ready for Spring and all of the renewal spring will bring. It's time to shed our excess winter coat of unnecessary stuff. I really find this to be mentally and physically healthy for the whole family.

We are trying to find an easy way to reduce waste and stay organized at the same time. I found these at cost plus world market for about five bucks each.

Still on the look out for something for cans and paper.

This is an awesome article about spring cleaning that may inspire you. There is also a guide of the five essentials of nontoxic cleaning (great green and cheap cleaning tips).

A little bite of heaven

Off the 5 freeway in Old Town Tustin is a small little Japanese French bakery that has these wonderful fluffy bites of heaven.

Many years ago I had a parent of a child that I taught bring me a bakery box filled with these scrumptious fluffy sweet rolls with a sweet (but not too sweet) light custard filling. Ooh those pastries were entirely too delicious to eat just one!

Now I bring my own daughter there and she also agrees, Cream Pan's are wonderful!

Our Worm farm

Don't be jealous, I know having a worm farm makes people green with envy! Ha Ha Ha. The other day Mia asked me if I would buy her some worms, yes worms!

Well I have worms in my class for the Kindergartners, they love them. My daughter loves them also and she was very upset with me that I wouldn't let her take my class worms home. So...

I'm not a frequent wall-mart shopper but it was the only place for a one stop shopping trip where I could pick up some worms, McDonald's and cupcake liners. I even tried to make an exchange for the worms that were in my cart for an adorable bunny bubble gum machine. That didn't work.

So now we are the proud owners of a worm farm or Vermicompost.

Vermicompost is the product or process of composting utilizing various species of worms, usually red wigglers, white worms, and earthworms to create a heterogeneous mixture of decomposing vegetable or food waste, bedding materials, and vermicast. Vermicast, similarly known as worm castings, worm humus or worm manure, is the end-product of the breakdown of organic matter by a species of earthworm.

Now we have somewhere to dump our coffee grounds and veggie scraps. And we are also Helping to close the "metabolic gap" through recycling waste on-site.
